PM Modi gives in to farmers, scraps new farm laws

After a long haul of two years through the pandemic, the protesting farmers finally got their cut from the Prime Minister who scrapped three new farm laws against which they were agitating.

The occasion was carefully chosen as the relief came on Guru Purab, the biggest of festivals of the Sikhs most of whom are agitating farmers.

Giving due importance to the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation to announce “today I want to tell everyone that we have decided to repeal all the three farm laws”. He requested all “my farmer brothers to return home to your fields and families to make a new beginning.”

The long due placatory step by the PM, comes close to the upcoming elections in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. He stressed that this was no time to play the blame game but forgive and forget.

The repeal will come after the constitutional process is completed by the end of the Parliamentary session later this month.
