Ashes: England all out for 185 on Day 1

There is no end to England’s struggle with the bat against the Aussies in the Ashes as the much changed side couldn’t revive their fortunes in the Boxing Day Test as well, which starts in Melbourne on Sunday.

The Joe Root side, which is already two down in the five-match series after losing the first two games, failed to put up a strong show and was dismissed for 185 runs on the first day itself, putting them under pressure yet again.

And things got even worse for them by the end of the day as the Aussies successfully negotiated the tough 16 overs and finished 61 for one at the close.

Joe Root (50) was the only English batter who offered some resistance against the Baggy Greens, which was bolstered by the return of regular skipper Pat Cummins, who made the most of his comeback and took the first three wickets.

Apart from Cummins, Nathan Lyon also returned with figures of 3 for 36.
