The Indian national anthem was sung for the fifth time in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics with the yet another athlete winning a Gold medal for the nation.

India’s fifth Gold medal came on the racquet of shuttler Krishna Nagar who secured India’s second gold medal in Badminton at the Tokyo Paralympics, joining fellow shuttler Pramod Bhagat who won in the Men’s Singles SL3 class Badminton match followed by Manish Narwal shooting the third Gold for India in the shooting event.

Nagar scored a thrilling three-game victory over Hong Kong’s Chu Man Kai in the men’s singles SH6 class Final at Tokyo Paralympics. The 22-year-old from Jaipur looked good on the scoreboard with a 21-17 16-21 21-17 in the final to retain his unbeaten run at the Games.

Para-shuttler Bhagat is a four times BWF champion and has now added Paralympics Gold to his name becoming world No 1. He played against players with disabilities before entering para-badminton in 2006.

Bhagat had contracted polio when he was barely 4 years old and saw his neighbours play.

On the other hand, Manish at just 19 years of age, created the Paralympic record as he amassed 218.2 points to clinch the yellow metal in the P4 Mixed 50M Pistol SH Final on Saturday.
In the Silver category, Singhraj Ashama grabbed his second medal of the Tokyo Paralympics with 216.7 points. The Russian Paralympic Committee’s (RPC) Sergey Malyshev won the bronze medal.

It has been a rich harvest for India at the differently-enabled Olympics. About the time that the nation gives these sportspersons the recognition and resources they need to diversify their achievements at big events.
