T20 WC: Afghans secure big win over Scotland

A dominant Afghanistan side crushes Scotland by 130 runs to register its biggest win in T20I history on Monday and open its campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on a high note.

The Scottish team which made it to the Super 12s as winners up of Group B in qualifiers were of no match with the Afghan side that posted 190 runs on the board batting first and then Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan run riot to fold them for just 60 in 10.2 overs.

While Mujeeb got rid of the top order and was declared Player of the Match for his performance of 4-0-20-5, Rashid sweep the tail and finished with 4 for 9 in 2.2 overs.

Not a single player from Scotland could show the courage to stand on the wicket. Four players got out for 0. This was Afghanistan’s seventh consecutive win against Scotland in T20Is.

With this win, Afghanistan reaches the top of Group 2 with 2 points and a net run rate of +6.500. The NNR will play a big role in this tournament as only two teams will advance from each group.
